"A party game for horrible people", Cards Against Humanity is a card game that pushes players out of their comfort levels and into a whole new universe of awful. I wanted to create an ad campaign that would help this horribly hilarious game reach a wider audience. It does pretty well, marketing mainly via word of mouth and social media. There are many buzzfeed articles and a hashtagh #cardsagainsthumanity that provide a platform for gamers to share their funny card combinations. I used that as inspiration for these ads, and created iconic illustrations that refer to their card combinations.
WORT Block Party Advertising
89.9 FM, otherwise known as WORT, is a local listener sponsored radio station known for it\'s quirky attitude and love for all music. Every year they throw a block party to welcome the summer, showcasing madison musicians and serving local "no crap on tap" brew. I created advertising for print and web inspired by their special guest for this year, Kim Manning of the P Funk Allstars. The lively color scheme and funky screaming mouth imagery represent an excitement for summer and funk music. Another theme is the eyeball creature, which is a reference to a part of the mural painted! on the radio station building. I think this little dude would make a great mascot for WORT!
Lakeshore Cider Mill Branding and Packaging
This company I created from mission statement to design. It would be a local cidery in the Shorewood Hills neighborhood of Madison. Each cider would represent a different landmark or neighborhood of Madison, so locals can drink to their side! The main logo was inspired by painted oar imagery. The painted oar traditionally acts as a trophy from a canoeing race, and I turned this into a symbol for our love of being on the water and our sense of hometown pride. The style of painting is a nod to Frank Lloyd Wright, who's style and actual work can be seen in abundance around Madison.
